//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// TITLE: GCN GRB OBSERVATION REPORT NUMBER: 657 SUBJECT: IPN localization of GRB000429 DATE: 00/04/30 01:12:41 GMT FROM: Kevin Hurley at UCBerkeley/SSL K. Hurley, on behalf of the Ulysses GRB Team, S. Barthelmy and R. M. Kippen on behalf of the BATSE GRB Team, T. Cline and E. Mazets, on behalf of the NEAR and KONUS-WIND GRB Teams, and F. Frontera, C. Guidorzi and E. Montanari, on behalf of the BeppoSAX GRBM Team, report: Ulysses, BATSE, Konus, NEAR, and the BeppoSAX GRBM observed GRB000429 (BATSE 8087) at 36430 s UT. As observed by Ulysses, this burst had a duration of ~50 s, a 25-100 keV fluence of ~4 x 10^-6 erg/cm^2, and a 0.25 s peak flux of ~6 x 10^-7 erg/ cm^2 s. We have localized this burst to a preliminary 3 sigma error box with an area of ~90 sq. arcmin with the following coordinates: RA(2000) DEC(2000) 6 h 33 m 20.80 s -4 o 24 ' 49.24 " (CENTER) 6 h 32 m 49.24 s -4 o 27 ' 6.45 " (CORNER) 6 h 33 m 32.66 s -4 o 18 ' 40.36 " (CORNER) 6 h 33 m 8.98 s -4 o 30 ' 58.52 " (CORNER) 6 h 33 m 52.44 s -4 o 22 ' 32.36 " (CORNER) This error box can be refined considerably. //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// TITLE: GCN GRB OBSERVATION REPORT NUMBER: 658 SUBJECT: GRB 000429, UBVRI field photometry DATE: 00/04/30 21:13:55 GMT FROM: Arne A. Henden at USNO/USRA A. Henden (USRA/USNO) reports on behalf of the USNO GRB team: We have acquired preliminary shallow UBVRcIc all-sky photometry for an 11x11 arcmin field that covers the majority of the error box for GRB000429 with the USNOFS 1.0-m telescope on one marginally photometric night. Stars brighter than V=12 are saturated and should be used with care. We have placed the photometric data on our anonymous ftp site: ftp://ftp.nofs.navy.mil/pub/outgoing/aah/grb/grb000429.dat The current photometry has a potential external zero-point error of about three percent. The astrometry in this file is based on linear plate solutions with respect to USNO-A2.0. The internal errors are less than 100mas. Further calibration of this field will be performed if an optical afterglow is identified. //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// TITLE: GCN GRB OBSERVATION REPORT NUMBER: 659 SUBJECT: GRB 000429, optical observation DATE: 00/04/30 21:57:51 GMT FROM: Arne A. Henden at USNO/USRA A. Henden (USRA/USNO) reports on behalf of the USNO GRB Team: We have imaged the IPN error box for GRB 000429 (Hurley et al. GCN #657) with the NOFS 1.0-m telescope on 000430.15 UT. Since a CCD with 11x11arcmin field of view was used with a single pointing, the extreme corners of the error box were not imaged. Conditions were marginal, with poor seeing, low altitude and twilight sky. A composite 20-minute I-band image was examined against the POSS-II red plate. No new objects are seen down to the CCD frame limit of approximately I=19.0.
