TO: All GCN Circulars people RE: Email address change for processing GCN Circulars DT: 18 Sep 04 There is a new machine that processes the incoming/outgoing GCN Circulars. The 'capella' machine now does the processing; the old machine was 'lheawww'. People submitting circulars are encouraged to send their circular submissions to: "gcncirc@capella.gsfc.nasa.gov instead of the old address: "gcncirc@lheawww.gsfc.nasa.gov. There is a forwarding_file in place on the old "lheawww" machine, so any future submission that is sent to the old address will still be automaticaly processed as before (ie totally transparent to the sender). This forwarding will be in place for a long long time, but like all computer/network systems, things change. I will guarentee the forwarding for at least a year. So, please, change your emails lists, aliases, cheat-sheets, etc. The change was made 8 days ago, and the last 26 Circulars have been processed with the new "capella" machine. If anybody is doing filtering on the distributed GCN Circulars, you should know that the "From"-line in the email header has changed from: "From gcncirc@lheawww.gsfc.nasa.gov" to: "From gcncirc@capella.gsfc.nasa.gov". This is the only change that is visible to the world community. The motivation for this machine change is to consolodate the GCN activities. This reduction in the number of machines (and indirectly, in the number of routers and gateways) will increase the livetime of the GCN system. (One bad link in chain breaks the whole chain.) The 'capella' machine is the machine that also processes the GCN Notices. If anyone has any problems with this change, please do not hesitate to contact me.
