TITLE: GCN CIRCULAR NUMBER: 7957 SUBJECT: GRB 080710: Swift detection of a burst DATE: 08/07/10 07:29:01 GMT FROM: Boris Sbarufatti at INAF-IASF-Pa B. Sbarufatti (INAF-IASFPA), W. H. Baumgartner (GSFC/UMBC), P. A. Evans (U Leicester), C. Guidorzi (INAF-OAB), E. A. Hoversten (PSU), V. La Parola (INAF-IASFPA), V. Mangano (INAF-IASFPA), C. B. Markwardt (CRESST/GSFC/UMD), K. L. Page (U Leicester), P. Romano (INAF-IASFPA) and T. N. Ukwatta (GSFC/GWU) report on behalf of the Swift Team: At 07:13:10 UT, the Swift Burst Alert Telescope (BAT) triggered and located GRB 080710 (trigger=316534). The BAT on-board calculated location is RA, Dec 8.257, +19.492 which is RA(J2000) = 00h 33m 02s Dec(J2000) = +19d 29' 31" with an uncertainty of 3 arcmin (radius, 90% containment, including systematic uncertainty). The BAT light curve showed a single-peaked structure with a duration of about 20 sec. The peak count rate was ~1,000 counts/sec (15-350 keV), at 0 sec after the trigger. Due to an observing constraint, Swift will not slew until T0+49.5 minutes. There will be no XRT or UVOT data until this time. Burst Advocate for this burst is B. Sbarufatti (sbarufatti AT ifc.inaf.it). Please contact the BA by email if you require additional information regarding Swift followup of this burst. In extremely urgent cases, after trying the Burst Advocate, you can contact the Swift PI by phone (see Swift TOO web site for information: http://www.swift.psu.edu/too.html.)
