TITLE: GCN GRB OBSERVATION REPORT NUMBER: 2359 SUBJECT: IPN triangulation of GRB030821 (=H2814; refined error box) DATE: 03/08/22 16:51:26 GMT FROM: Kevin Hurley at UCBerkeley/SSL K. Hurley and T. Cline, on behalf of the Ulysses, Konus, Odyssey, and HETE GRB teams, E. Mazets and S. Golenetskii, on behalf of the Konus-Wind GRB team, I. Mitrofanov, S. Charyshnikov, V. Grinkov, A. Kozyrev, M. Tavenner, T. Donaghy, M. Boer, J-F Olive, and J-P Dezalay, on behalf of the HETE GRB team, report: Ulysses data have now been received for this burst (GCN 2358). Because Ulysses is approximately 16 times farther from Earth than Mars, the width of the triangulation annulus is substantially smaller. We have triangulated the position to a preliminary annulus centered at RA, Decl(2000)= 340.962, -23.121 degrees, with radius 25.143 +/- 0.332 degrees (3 sigma). This annulus intersects the HETE WXM error box given in GCN 2358 to form an error box which is about 5 times smaller, with an area ~1200 square arcminutes. The corners of this error box are: RA(2000) Decl(2000) 326.077 -45.547 325.767 -44.594 325.266 -45.157 324.954 -44.170 A figure has been posted at ssl.berkeley.edu/ipn3/030821. Only very slight improvements to this error box are expected.
